Privacy Policy

Overview

Notcher is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your data belongs to you — and only you. This privacy policy explains what data Notcher collects (spoiler: almost none) and how we handle it.

Data Collection

Notcher is a fully local application. Here's what that means:

  • Scripts and text: All text you paste or type into Notcher stays on your Mac. It is never sent to any server, cloud service, or third party.
  • Voice data:Voice-sync scrolling uses on-device speech recognition (Apple's built-in APIs). Audio is processed locally and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
  • Settings and preferences: Your customization settings (font size, color, speed, etc.) are stored locally on your device.
  • No accounts: Notcher does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app.

Analytics and Tracking

Notcher does not include any analytics, tracking, or telemetry tools. We do not use cookies, pixels, or any form of user tracking. We have no idea how you use the app — and that's by design.

Third-Party Services

Notcher does not integrate with any third-party services that collect data. Specifically, Notcher does not use:

  • Analytics services (e.g. Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase)
  • Advertising networks or ad SDKs
  • Tracking technologies or fingerprinting
  • Third-party SDKs that collect or transmit user data

The only external communication occurs when checking for app updates, which sends only your current app version to our update server — no personal data is included.

Permissions

Notcher does not request access to sensitive device resources. Specifically, the app does not access or request permission to use:

  • The microphone
  • The camera
  • Screen recording
  • Contacts, calendars, or files outside the app sandbox

Any on-screen overlay functionality is rendered locally and is visible only to the user. Notcher operates within the macOS app sandbox and requests only the minimum permissions required for its core features.

Purchase Data

If you purchase Notcher through our website, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your payment details. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled. If you purchase through the Mac App Store, Apple handles the transaction entirely.

Data Retention

Because Notcher stores all data locally on your device, you are in full control of how long any data is retained. Uninstalling Notcher removes the application and its associated sandbox data from your device. We do not retain any user data on our servers because we do not collect any.

Your Rights

Because Notcher does not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. However, you retain full rights over your own device data at all times:

  • Access & portability:Your scripts and settings are stored in the app's local sandbox. You can export or back them up at any time.
  • Deletion: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
  • No profiling: We do not build profiles, inferences, or behavioral models from your usage.

If you are located in the EU (GDPR), California (CCPA), or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy rights, the above practices already satisfy those rights by design — since no personal data is collected or processed by us.

Data Storage and Security

Since all data remains on your device, the security of your data is protected by your Mac's built-in security features (FileVault encryption, Gatekeeper, etc.). We recommend keeping your macOS up to date for the best security.

Children's Privacy

Notcher does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no personal information, there is no age-related data concern.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify users through the app. Given our commitment to local-only processing, we do not anticipate significant changes.
